#KenyaLive

Live Broadcasts from the Mara to Watamu

Get ready to #‎VisitWatamu

This week the all new #‎KenyaLive campaign launches with Make It Kenya, HerdTracker and Wonders of Watamu enabling everyone in the world to join a live safari online from the conservancies of the Mara to Watamu (Watamu January 14-18th). You can join this safari live as this incredible realtime safari highlights the best of Kenya and our Wonders of Watamu-and ask questions and interact along the way.

#KenyaLive is the latest Make It Kenya campaign, which will bring some of the incredible breadth of Kenya’s tourism offer to audiences around the world, live. Following on from #MaraLive, Make It Kenya is again partnering with HerdTracker, and this time Wonders of Watamu, to broadcast incredible content live, using Periscope.

Here’s how you can join in:

What is Periscope?

Periscope is a mobile application that allows users to broadcast live video to their followers. Periscope is owned by, and functions very similarly to Twitter.

How to follow and view the #KenyaLive videos.

Bringing Watamu to the World The video is being broadcast by the Make It Kenya and HerdTracker team on HerdTracker’s Periscope account, which you can view on a web browser here: www.periscope.tv/herdtracker. There will be at least three broadcasts per day from 7 – 18 January, featuring nighttime lion tracking in the Mara and the release of turtles into the ocean in Watamu with us here at Local Ocean Trust.

You can also follow the campaign on mobile, by downloading the Periscope app and following HerdTracker’s account. To do this, simply visit the App Store (for iPhones) or Google Play (for Android devices) and search for and download Periscope, which is free to download. Once downloaded, you’ll need to sign in with your Twitter username and log in, or sign up to Periscope with your email address. When you’ve logged into the app, use the microscope icon in the top left corner to search for HerdTracker, and then click follow. You will now receive notifications on your phone every time a #KenyaLive broadcast is live.

During a broadcast, you can ask questions which the team can respond to live during the broadcast. You can also tap the heart icon to show your appreciation, which we encourage you to do! All the broadcasts will be made available to watch again on both HerdTracker and Make It Kenya’s YouTube channels.
